From the North Carolina Department of Transportation

The N.C. Department of Transportation is launching an exciting effort to guide transportation planning for the next 30 years, and we need your help.

We are updating our Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan called the 2040 Plan, which will help us determine North Carolina’s transportation needs in 2040 and how to best meet them.  In addition to highways, the plan will address aviation, ferries, rail, bicycles, pedestrian facilities and public transportation.

Transportation is an integral part of the lives of all North Carolinians.  Therefore, we feel it is important to hear from citizens about their thoughts, ideas and concerns about the future of transportation.

To do this, we would like to request your assistance with communications and with sharing 2040 Plan information, surveys and other materials with your constituents or members.  We know organizations such as yours can help us reach many people.

One of the easiest ways people may provide input during this initial launch period of the effort is to complete a survey about their thoughts regarding the future of transportation.  This survey is available online and in written form.  The survey and other materials that have been developed to provide more information about the 2040 Plan and encourage participation can be found at www.ncdot.gov/performance/reform  or at www.m.ncdot.gov on mobile devices.

Please help us find out what North Carolinians think about the future of transportation by sending them a link to the 2040 Plan web address, or making copies of the survey and distributing it to your members or constituents.  If there are other ways we can reach your members or constituents, please let us know.

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact NCDOT Statewide Plan Engineer Tyler Bray, PE at tbray@ncdot.gov or (919) 707-0963.

We truly appreciate your efforts to assist with this important endeavor.

Sincerely,
