Surf City, N.C. Bridge Options

Above is just one of the many bridge options being considering by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The current one, a swing bridge built in the early 50's, has reached what is considered by the DOT to be the end of its useful life. This is being said mostly due to the fact that parts for the structure would have to be fabricated and maintenance is becoming increasingly expensive. Consider, as I did at the workshop held by the DOT in Surf City, the fact that should the bridge break down, either in an open or closed position, it will play havoc with either vehicular or intracoastal traffic. October and Topsail Time

Happy to see the cooler weather finally arrive. Last night, the doors and windows were open wide and the fresh, brisk air was amazing. The ocean waters are still warm, so beachgoers are still able to take advantage of less crowded (sometimes we're the only ones on the beach) sands on which to pitch their umbrellas and unfold their chairs. This is quite possibly the best time of year to be an islander and if you're planning a visit, come go coastal in October!

Living on Topsail time!

Wednesday seems to be a good day for us to catch up on a lot of items we miss during the rest of the week. It is our day off from our real estate business, although we are still emailing and calling, just not at the office. All of our team has the day off as well. We found that having that one day a week free really does provide a welcome relief. One day that we don't have to "clean up" and face our colleagues or clients. We are also preparing to take our team to the StarPower conference in Orlando next week AND we have houseguests coming in while we are away. Lots to do!

Real estate transactions on the island have picked up dramatically in the first two quarters of the year. Apparently, there are a lot of really smart buyers out there who recognize incredible deals when they see them. We have a terrific oceanfront home that is on the market for $ 529,000. and the showings have been phenomenal! It is just a matter of time before we have a contract on that sweet deal.

Weather is great (it is summer, after all), the sounds and the bays of Topsail Island are great for all kinds of watersports and the ICWW and the Atlantic are easily accessible from here.
